With a background in art and design, Kent Begnaud began collecting the necessary tools and equipment to turn his personal craft info a full time endeavor. With the help of other talented artisans in the Twin Cities, Kent quickly added to his bag of tricks, making tooled belts, hand cobbled sandals, briefcases, purses and handbags.
Through the 80s and mid 90s, Kent continued to build his expertise and understanding of the trade. Frequent trips to area tanneries helped to increase his knowledge of leather and its unique qualities. New manufacturing equipment and techniques allowed the company to stay ahead of the advancing number of imports.
Kents wife Lee has proven to be the perfect mesh for an artistic guy like Kent. With a background in sales and customer service, Lee is responsible for governing the business side of their growing venture.
Styles have certainly changed from the hippie-influenced designs back in the 70s. The LW look today is hip yet elegant, functional and contemporary. They have added their signature Begnaud flair with the use of embossed exotic grained cowhides.
To this day, Kent and Lee still enjoy everything about the leather business including that intoxicating aroma that greets them as they enter the shop each morning. Their mom & pop business has certainly matured, but they still hold true to the same belief take care of the customer, and the customer will take care of you.
