Im interested in making things that are really lovely and also affordable for people, things that use unusual fabrics and decorations. Although the seasons change, I find that the clothes I design are linked by my love for decoration & embellishment, from ruffles to fake flowers. I get ideas from commedia dellarte costumes, late Victorian clothing, EGL, the New Look by Dior.... Im interested in the aesthetic of early 20th century (1910-30s) fashion design and the idea that a designer would create a whole world around his designs--printing his own cloth, making perfumes to wear with his clothing, etc. Paul Poiret is someone whose designs and total style I admire, and the Arts & Crafts movement in general is influential to me. In the spirit of these designers, I try to create things that are useful and beautiful at once.
